The pleasure
of making.
Cooking is one of the things I most enjoy. I like learning a technique, trying it in my own kitchen and finding out what changes the result.
Sous vide, a vacuum chamber, a carefully finished steak: the equipment is part of the fun. So is sharing the meal.

Nathan Myhrvold’s books helped me learn to cook. When I finally met him, I told him about the vacuum chamber I use for fries. He asked whether I had tried making them ultrasonic. There is always another experiment.

Superheroes,
off duty.
I make digital images in Midjourney under the name demireid. In this series, familiar superheroes eat, read, rest and grow older. Their costumes stay; everyday life changes the scene.

A change
of perspective.
I ski and snowboard. Austria, California, Colorado and the mountains of Argentina, including Patagonia and Bariloche, are part of that story. The photographs here follow a few other trips, and an attempt to learn to surf.
